ABOUT THE YCJGA
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in York, Pennsylvania. Our main focus is our Tour program - a series of six weekly 18-hole tournaments held at different courses in the York area from mid-June through late July. Players compete in 5 different divisions - Girls, Boys ages 14 & under, Boys ages 15-18 playing from the white tee markers and Boys ages 15-18 playing from the blue tee markers and the 9 hole "A" division, ages 8-14. Prizes are awarded to the top finishers each week, and players also earn points toward the YCJGA Cup, our season-long points competition for determining the "Player of the Year" in each division.
Once again, we will be holding our Developmental Tour at Little Creek Golf Course just outside of Spring Grove. This year, however, we will be using the back nine. Due to changes in the borough, the front nine will be closing this year. The gentlemen who will be overseeing our program are Jeff Van Etten, PGA, Wayne Jacobs and Tom Long. Our program this year will consist of three stations each week. These stations will provide 15 minutes of instruction each. Once completing the instruction, participants will then play a few holes on the back nine. There will be no qualifying this year for our 9 hole division. If you sign up for the Developmental Tour, you will report to Little Creek each week.
For the top players in our Tour program, we also offer several unique "post-season" opportunities. The George Barton Match Play championship is held at the end of the Tour season, and it allows the top 16 boys in the 15-18 Blue Tee division and the top 8 girls in the girls division to compete head-to-head and experience the unique rules and strategy of match-play. In addition, the annual "Junior War of the Roses" puts an all-star squad from our program against the best players from the Lancaster County Junior Golf Tour in a match-play team competition similar to the Ryder Cup.
For players who do not qualify for the George Barton Match Play, there will be a one day, non-qualifier event which will feature all the Tour divisions. If the event was paid for and the player qualifies for the match play event or is in the developmental tour, money will be refunded.
Registrations for all divisions will be on the website by March 1st. The deadline to register is June 1st.
